Our Impact

Strengthening Animal Rescue Across Our Community

Alamo Area Partners for Animal Welfare (AAPAW) exists to strengthen the capacity of local animal rescue organizations and compassionate community members working to save homeless and at-risk animals. We do not operate a shelter. Instead, we focus on strategic, high-impact support that allows rescue groups to do more with limited resources — ensuring lifesaving care reaches animals who might otherwise be left behind.

Our Approach to Impact

AAPAW focuses on root-cause solutions and collaborative support, not duplication of services. Our model is built on three guiding principles:

Prevention

We prioritize spay and neuter assistance to reduce the number of animals entering the rescue system in the first place.

Intervention

We provide targeted medical assistance — including heartworm treatment — that removes barriers to adoption and prevents unnecessary euthanasia.

Collaboration

We support a broad network of independent rescue organizations, veterinarians, and community partners to ensure resources are shared efficiently and responsibly.

Responsible Stewardship

AAPAW is committed to the careful and transparent use of funds. We prioritize:

  • Program-driven spending

  • Measurable outcomes

  • Continuous evaluation of community needs

Funding is directed where it will have the greatest impact — helping animals while supporting the organizations that care for them.

Why This Impact Matters

Animal rescue is most effective when organizations are supported, coordinated, and equipped to respond. By investing in AAPAW, funders help:

  • Save lives today

  • Prevent suffering tomorrow

  • Build a stronger, more sustainable animal welfare system for the future
