SAVE A STRAY
Please note: AAPAW is not a shelter and does not have facilities to take in stray or unwanted cats or dogs.
If you are a Good Samaritan who has found a lost or stray pet, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for saving a life. However, please be prepared to foster this pet until placement can be arranged with a rescue or shelter. In many cases, if you are able to foster the pet you have just saved, a rescue or shelter may be able to list the dog or cat on their website and assist with adoption efforts (including providing medical care and supplies). You may also be asked to bring the dog or cat to adoption events on the weekends.
Many, if not most, rescuers work full-time jobs and volunteer their personal time and funds to help San Antonio’s homeless pets. As a result, they do not have unlimited capacity to take in every pet that is rescued by Good Samaritans. It is our hope that Good Samaritans will join AAPAW in saving more lives by opening their own homes temporarily to foster pets and provide shelter and care for the animals they rescue.
