AAPAW Duties

AAPAW has specific duties as outlined in the City's Strategic Plan to achieve No Kill by 2012. These duties are: (primary duties are in bold print)

1. Disseminate educational & informational brochures with Animal Care Services (ACS)
2. Develop & implement other community educational programs with Consortium & ACS
3. Increase adoptions through multi-site availability
4. Increase owner retention with ACS
5. Increase owner reclaim from ACS with ACS
6. Implement Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) with ACS
7. Support development of appropriate advocacy efforts with Consortium & ACS
8. Promote effective assessment & accountability measures among care & rescue organizations with Consortium & ACS
9. Advocate for the Mayor & Council to Adopt a "no-kill" proclamation with Consortium & ACS - Accomplished!!
10. Establish community animal care standards with ACSAB & ACS & Consortium
11. Expand volunteer involvement & enhance the program with ACS & Consortium
12. Develop & implement school-based educational programs with Consortium & ACS
13. Expand accessibility of free & low-cost spay/neuter with ACS, SNAP, ARC, etc.
